Garland is from Terra and the 'overseer' of souls. He wants to generate souls to Terra so that Terra
can eventually become the 'new' Gaia. He created the Iifa tree in order to do that.
He also is responsible for attacking Madain Sari 10 years ago. He feared the summon
power of the Eidolons, and so sought out to destroy the summoners.
